چکیده

© 2009 ETRI Journal, Volume 31, Number 5, October 2009 The detrimental effect of short-term fading and shadowing can be mitigated using microdiversity and macrodiversity systems, respectively. In this paper, implementation of selection combining at both micro and macro levels to improve system performance is analyzed. An assessment of the performance of such a system is carried out by considering the desired signal as Rician fading with lognormal shadowing and cochannel interference signal as Rayleigh fading superimposed over lognormal shadowing. The proposed analysis is complemented by various performance evaluation results, including the effects on overall system performance of fading severity, shadowing spreads and branch correlation existing at the base station, and correlation between base stations.

Effect of Microdiversity and Macrodiversity on Average Bit Error Probability in Gamma - Shadowed Rician Fading Channels

© 2010 ETRI Journal, Volume 32, Number 3, June 2010 In this letter, we analyze the error performance of a mobile communication system with microdiversity and macrodiversity reception in gamma-shadowed Rician fading channels for a binary differential phase-shift keying modulation scheme. Analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF) and moment-generating function (MGF) are de...

Level Crossing Rate of Macrodiversity System Operating over Gamma Shadowed Rician Fading Channel

Macrodiversity system with macrodiversity selection combining (SC) receiver and two microdiversity SC receivers is considered. Received signal is affected simultaneously to Gamma long term fading and Rician short term fading resulting in system performance degradation. Macrodiversity SC receiver reduces Gamma shadowing effects and microdiversity SC receivers reduce multipath fading effects on b...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

Second-order statistics of SC macrodiversity system operating over Gamma shadowed Nakagami-m fading channels

This paper derives the second-order statistics of SC (selection combining) macrodiversity operating over the Gamma shadowed Nakagami-m fading channels. Macrodiversity system of SC type consists of two microdiversity systems and selection (switching) is based on their output signal power values. Each microdiversity system is of MRC (maximal ratio combining) type with arbitrary number of branches...

The Second Order Performance of Macrodiversity Reception in the Presence of Weibull Fading, Gamma Fading and α-κ-μ Co-channel Interference

In this paper, the wireless system consisting of macrodiversity selection combining (SC) receiver and two microdiversity SC receivers under the influence of small scale fading and large scale fading, as well as co-channel interference is observed. Small scale fading has Weibull distribution. Correlated large scale fading is described by Gamma distribution. Co-channel interference is disturbed b...
